چکیده

We study pattern formation in a passive nonlinear optical cavity on the basis of the classic Lugiato-Lefever model with a periodically modulated injection. When the injection amplitude sign alternates, e.g., following a sinusoidal modulation in time or in space, a phase-bistable response emerges, which is at the root of the spatial pattern formation in the system. An asymptotic description is given in terms of a damped nonlinear Schrödinger equation with parametric amplification, which allows gaining insight into the basic spatiotemporal dynamics of the system. Oneand two-dimensional phase-bistable spatial patterns, such as bright and dark-ring cavity solitons and labyrinths, are demonstrated.

Experimental evidence of dissipative spatial solitons in an optical passive Kerr cavity

We report on the first experimental evidence of localized structures (dissipative solitons) in a one-dimensional optical Fabry–Pérot passive Kerr cavity. The Kerr-like medium is a non-instantaneous, diffusive ultra-thin film of liquid crystal inserted in a low-finesse cavity. Solitons with oscillating tails are experimentally observed in this system that can lock together to form complexes of s...

Stable Droplets and Dark-Ring Cavity Solitons in Nonlinear Optical Devices

Two kinds of cavity solitons, stable circular domain walls (droplets) and dark-ring cavity solitons, are presented in models of vectorial Kerr resonators and degenerate optical parametric oscillators. These structures are universal in systems with two equivalent homogeneous states and are found for parameter values close to those of a modulational instability of a flat front. Stable droplets ow...

Weak Force Measurement in Bistable Optomechanical System

One of the main milestones in the study of opto-mechanical system is to increase the sensitivity of weak forces measurement up to the standard quantum limit. We have studied the detection of weak force under a bistable condition in red detuned regime. In this case, dynamics of the system behaves asymptotically similar to stationary state and applying external force affects phase and fluctuation...

Noise-induced switching via fluctuating atomic coherence in an optical three-level bistable system

Noise-induced switching caused by fluctuating atomic coherence is experimentally demonstrated in an atomic optical bistable system consisting of three-level atoms in -type configurations confined in an optical ring cavity. The nonlinear phase as a result of enhanced Kerr nonlinearity induced by atomic coherence in the electromagnetically induced transparency system is fluctuating due to the noi...

Erratum: Closed-form solutions and scaling laws for Kerr frequency combs

A single closed-form analytical solution of the driven nonlinear Schrödinger equation is developed, reproducing a large class of the behaviors in Kerr-comb systems, including bright-solitons, dark-solitons, and a large class of periodic wavetrains. From this analytical framework, a Kerr-comb area theorem and a pump-detuning relation are developed, providing new insights into soliton- and wavetr...
